Workshops & Performances:

Itty Bitty Dancers (Ages 4 & under)

Learn and engage in creative play with your little one. Through movement, drama, and song, participants will discover how to use Voice, Body, Focus, Imagination, and Cooperation to express themselves!

Rhythm & Moves Workshop (Ages 5-8)

Come out and experience culture, music, and movement with Culture4MyKIds. These classes are geared towards all ages and levels of experience. In our organization, we believe “If you can walk you can dance, and if you can talk you can sing.” (Zimbabwe Proverb). Our session will be enlightening, inspiring, culturally uplifting, and a whole lot of fun.

Minds in Motion Workshop (Ages 7-12)

Join Jordan, Elle and Mr. Branch in this special workshop class, where participants will experience the joy of moving to live music as they engage in dance and learning to get their Minds In Motion. Richmond Ballet’s acclaimed community program, Minds In Motion, brings classes to participating schools that are inclusive of all fourth grade students and take place during the school day. The program has been a part of Virginia schools since 1995. Each class connects technical dance instruction to content based dance instruction.

 Hip Hop Workshop (Ages 11-18)

Join Richmond Urban Dance instructor, Faith Helmlinger, as she teaches a short hip hop routine following a quick warm-up.

 Art Love (All Ages)

Art Love will be featuring a hands on experience for children to make a dancer out of pipe cleaners, beads, and clay. Enjoy creating movement and free flow in your dancer as you listen to your favorite music. We will also have an area where everyone is welcome to design a card for the Afghan refugee children currently residing at Fort Pickett. Art Love will include your cards in its next donation of art supplies.

Performance: Latin Ballet of Virginia (All Ages)

The Latin Ballet of Virginia, founded in 1997 in Richmond, Virginia under the direction of Ana Ines King, a native of Colombia, is a professional dance company and school of dance, providing multicultural dance programs, instruction and performances for a diverse community. The Company is Central Virginia’s pre-eminent Hispanic dance company, performing throughout the State and at select venues in North and South America.

"From the passionate fury of flamenco to tango’s forbidden heat, the polished elegance of classical ballet to the earthen power of modern dance, the Latin Ballet of Virginia uses the expressive beauty of movement to weave the tales and traditions that are the heart and soul of Hispanic culture. The Latin Ballet of Virginia (LBV) combines technical excellence with a soulful depth of emotion and an unwavering commitment to education, diversity and accessibility."
