Artist Biographies

Frank Coleman

Frank Coleman has been a professional musician in and around Central Virginia for the last 40 years.  During that time, he has had the good fortune to play with many of the areas best acoustic-oriented musicians.  Most notably, he has enjoyed a 35 year partnership and friendship with Chris Fuller.

Frank is a multi-instrumentalist as well as a songwriter, composer, and recording engineer.  Over the years, he has written and/or arranged the soundtracks to numerous public television documentaries, including the Emmy Award winning “The Sailor Bob Story”, “Out of Order”, and “The Kennedy Half Century”. “The Sailor Bob Story” also won a bronze Telly Award.

Recently, Frank was involved in Coming Back Home, a wonderful stage production featuring the music of John Denver, created by Frank’s musical partner Chris Fuller, including Brad Tucker. Based on their experience during the process of rehearsing and performing the Coming Back Home show, as well as previous musical collaborations, Brad, Chris, and Frank decided to start performing as a trio.  Frank feels very fortunate to be sharing the stage with Chris Fuller and Brad Tucker, both of whom are great musicians and wonderful people.

Frank has also been blessed to be married for 38 years to Julie Savage Coleman.  Both Julie and Frank are high school teachers in Chesterfield County, where they reside.  Their daughter, Grace, is a senior majoring in Journalism at The New School in NYC.

Chris Fuller

Chris has been a professional musician for over thirty years. His signature style performances on the mandolin and guitar have been showcased throughout Virginia and in numerous states on the east coast.

Chris’s favorite time is sharing the stage with musicians he considers friends. His earliest musical experiences were spent playing bluegrass music with bands such as the Hanover Better Boys and the Big Boss Combo. Chris has also performed with various Americana, folk, rock Richmond VA musicians/acts such as Page Wilson, Janet Martin, Billy Ray Hatley, Charles Arthur, the Taters, and Among Friends. An acoustic duo act that Chris is one half of is Coleman and Fuller. Frank Coleman and Chris have been entertaining audiences with their versions of acoustic singer songwriter music for 35 years.

Chris was the producer/creator of the Coming Back Home show that took place January 6, 2024 at the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. This performance was a celebration of the arts featuring the music of John Denver. The show encouraged the audience to recognize the value of music, visual art, dance, spoken word/poetry, and nature. The value and appreciation of the arts were a huge part of Chris’ family life and experiences. He comes from a long line of artists; His father Frank Fuller, a theater professor at Bridgewater College, his brother David Bridgewater, a seasoned stage actor, and sister, Kathy a visual artist/writer/avid nature photographer.

Chris’ love of music crosses over between many genres and artists such as- Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Nat King Cole, Chuck Berry, John Prine, Norah Jones and Del McCoury. Chris is thrilled to be a part of tonight’s performance with Frank Coleman and Brad Tucker.

Brad Tucker

Brad Tucker has been a performing musician in the Richmond area since his high school days, and has served with many bands and in many projects over the past four and a half decades.

Brad is a founding member of The Taters, a band that has been working steadily and playing their eclectic mix of roots rock, pop, and country influences since 1997. He is also a guitarist and vocalist with The Super Sugar Beats, a band specializing in bubble gum hits and sunshine pop from the 60’s and 70’s. Brad was also involved in a ten-year run with The Rock & Roll Jubilee, performing the music of Buddy Holly, Ricky Nelson, The Everly Brothers, Roy Orbison, and Elvis Presley.

Most recently Brad was one of the featured performers (along with Chris and Frank!) in Coming Back Home, a program of music, dance, spoken word, and visual arts celebrating the music of John Denver. He is delighted to be working again with Chris and Frank for tonight’s program!
