Artist Biographies

Ms. Jaylin Brown

Voted as one of Style Weekly’s 2022 Top 40 Under 40, Ms. Brown’s eclectically elegant tunes are steeped in emotion. Inspired by artists like Alicia Keys, Jill Scott, Lianne La Havas, and Jeff Buckley, Ms. Brown has been noted as a “quiet acoustic storm”, supported by her powerful stage presence. As she maneuvers through melodies with ease, Ms. Brown exercises feminine authority as she captivates her audience and encourages them to sing along.

Her roots in the culturally communal city of Richmond, Virginia are heavily reflected in her music, holding influence from styles such as Jazz, Americana, Rock & Roll, Blues, Soul, Gospel, and R&B. In addition to this range of knowledge in contemporary styles of music, Ms. Brown studied opera at Virginia Commonwealth University VCU, performing full roles in other languages, placing highly in multiple competitions, and obtaining her B.A. in Music Performance in May 2020.

In recent years, you can find Ms. Jaylin Brown’s voice featured in multiple productions including Pharrell’s Voices of Fire on Netflix (2020), the title track of McKinley Dixon’s Beloved! Paradise! Jazz!, and starred as Julie D’Aubigny in the world premiere of Julie, Monster, a contemporary baroque opera. In her most recent release, Spring Song (Live at the Sunroom), Ms. Jaylin Brown sets her listeners adrift on memory bliss. “My hope,” she says, “is that this song serves as a reflection, where listeners find themselves imagining both the first signs of Spring and love.”

Currently, Ms. Jaylin Brown is on course to graduate from Berklee College of Music’s Valencia, Spain campus with her master’s degree in contemporary performance and production, and is set to return to the United States in August of 2024. Visit her calendar to check out upcoming shows in your area!
