The Genworth Lights Up! Youth Series is back and “On the Road” again this season!
Kicking off on September 30 at Henrico High School | Center for the Arts, this series offers youth ages 3-18 the opportunity to partake in workshops and experience performances by local arts groups in community centers and schools across the region.
Workshops are FREE for everyone to attend and pre-registration is encouraged but not required.
Introducing ‘Itty Bitty Musicians’ – a musical journey for little artists aged 3 to 6! In this interactive workshop, we’ll embark on a magical adventure through the world of music, using our hands, voices, and songs as our musical instruments. Through playful activities and engaging games, your little ones will discover the joy of rhythm, melody, and harmony
In this class, students will have an opportunity to paint large scale artworks. They’ll learn about mixing colors and use different brushes to create their own pictures. It’s a chance for each student to be creative and try something new, as most younger students tend to work on smaller surfaces. Creating a large painting is special because it allows artists to express their ideas and emotions with a greater presence.
In this fun and active workshop, we’ll step into the world of Improv Comedy, the art of acting without a script, and say Yes, And to each other! We’ll learn about the creativity and collaboration needed to create together through games and scenes we create all on the spot!
Come learn how to create a costume headpiece for any character or persona you want to be on the stage. Learn basic techniques that will allow you to create a costume hat for any occasion and take the one you make today with you!
During this workshop we will be working on key elements of performing such as endurance and memorization, as we work our way through some beginner to intermediate hip-hop choreography.
Ever wonder what the design process is like for a theatre production? Collaborate in small groups and create your own costume, scenic, and lighting design concepts on the spot. No experience is necessary.
