Genworth Lights Up! Youth Series

We just wrapped up our March installation of the Genworth Lights Up! Youth Series: I've Got The Music In Me!  Check out the workshops that were shared below.  Stay tuned for our final event of the 2020-21 year: Backstage Pass (Focus on Technical Theatre).  

 

March Workshops:

Friday: Exploring Jazz with Plunky & Fire
Join J. Plunky Branch and his accompanist and beatmaker, Fire, as they take you on a musical journey through jazz while teaching you about the origins of the saxophone family! (All Ages)

 

Thursday: Calibash Stories with LaShaunda Craddock
Join Greater Richmond Wolf Trap teaching artist LaShaunda Craddock as she tells an interactive calibash folk tale! Your preschool-age children will love having the opportunity to sing along and participate during the story! (Ages 3-8)

 

Wednesday: Songwriting Tips with KDents TV
Join Bridget Sindelar of KDents TV (a program of Cadence Theatre Company) as she shares tips on how to get started with songwriting. During her workshop, she will also share her recent experience of having one of her original songs recorded at Red Amp Studio! (Ages 12-18)

 

Tuesday: "Feel the Beat" African Drumming Workshop
Join Elegba Folklore Society for Feel the Beat, an African drumming workshop. Bring your drum or bring your bucket or your box. Bring your bell or two spoons. The workshop is guided by Omilade Janine Bell, Artistic Director, Djembe player, Kofi Agyei and Dunnun player, Kurt Patterson. (Ages 7-12)

 

Monday: Vocal Warm-Ups
Join local artist and vocal coach, Jason Marks, as he shares his favorite vocal warm-ups and why each is important to the warm-up process! (Ages 12-18)

 

Workshops will be released daily March 22-26 at 10:00 AM here and on Facebook.
